Hailing from Vancouver (Canada) and Seattle, Forras is a driving force in the North American Hungarian folk scene. The ensemble plays traditional village music from Central Europe. Forras' performances are both entertaining and educational and the players present the traditional lifestyle of the peasant musician individually they would often put down their instruments and dance. Their repertoire includes music of Hungarian, Romanian and Romany (Gypsy) origin played on stringed instruments such as violin, a three-stringed viola called the kontra and double bass.

Originally hailing from Transylvania, 'Laci' is an accomplished fiddler. He became a performer for Hungary's pre-eminent professional group, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble. During his time in Budapest, Laci also accompanied many other ensembles throughout the Hungary establishing himself as a diverse and talented musician. Now a resident of Washington State, he has become the primas (lead fiddler) for Forras.
Master dance teacher Levente Varadi from Hungary will be teaching in this evening of fun, fast-paced dancing with live music. No partner necessary and all levels of dance background are welcome.
Hungarian food and drink will be available for purchase.
