The Committee of Civil Jurists in Budapest, a non-governmental, independent organization, set out to probe into the events in September and November 2006 in Budapest, i.e. police brutality and arbitrary arrests on a massive scale. The protection of human rights and an investigation into the violation of human rights was to be of primary importance to the Committee.

In this seminar, Krisztina Morvai, Tamas Gaudi-Nagy, and Anna Szöőr will describe their project: establishing facts, investigating the legality of actions taken by the police or other bodies; reviewing accountability and justification for reparations; possible guarantees of non-reoccurrance; guarantees of freedom of association and speech; an historical perspective, a psychological and sociological perspective. They will discuss their working methods and future tasks for the Committee.
